"What’s not required with me?

Having your health story figured out, remembering every detail, or knowing which piece matters.

Bring any questions (there are no stupid ones, I promise).

Bring your symptom diary (even if it’s just messy notes you’ve collected along the way), blood results you don’t understand, words that make no sense, the wound you’re worried about, or the bag full of papers you can never find when you need them.

Maybe you have symptoms nobody has quite explained, or you’ve felt dismissed, unheard or anxious trying to make sense of it all. We can slow things down and look at the whole picture: your health, emotional wellbeing, your relationships and your daily life.

You’ll be met with warmth, a great ear, curiosity and genuine care. I won’t assume I know your body better than you do. It’s your body and your experience. And you don’t need to convince me that what you’re experiencing is real. I believe you already".

A wee bit about Philippa
Registered Nurse (Division 1)

Hi, I’m Philippa.

I’m a Registered Nurse with a background across disability, mental health and community care. I’m particularly passionate about working alongside neurodivergent people and understanding health as something that involves the whole person, not just a list of symptoms.

Originally from Ireland and now calling Melbourne home, I’ve always been drawn to work that is as much about people as it is about health. I’m curious about the connections between our physical health, nervous system, emotions, relationships, environment and everyday life, and how all of these can shape how we feel and function.

My approach is neuroaffirming, relational, compassionate and down-to-earth. I believe good care begins with listening, really listening, and taking the time to understand what someone is experiencing before deciding what might be helpful.

Sometimes health can feel like a collection of separate pieces. You might be managing physical symptoms, emotional wellbeing, neurodivergence, medications, appointments, tests, relationships, work or family life, while trying to work out which bits are connected and who you're actually supposed to talk to about them.

I enjoy helping people bring those pieces together. That might mean understanding health information, preparing for an appointment, making sense of what your body is telling you, identifying your needs, developing a safety plan, or feeling more confident asking questions and advocating for yourself. Sometimes it's simply having enough time with someone to say, “Here’s everything that’s been going on. Where will we start?”

I also enjoy supporting older adults and families as health and care needs change, helping make healthcare feel a little less overwhelming and easier to navigate.

Outside of nursing, you’ll usually find me listening to music, at the gym, out walking, spending time in nature, discovering somewhere new to eat, or catching up with friends and family. Music, connection, community and a good laugh are all pretty important parts of life for me.

For me, nursing is about working alongside people rather than doing things to them. It’s about curiosity, collaboration and helping people feel more connected to their own bodies, needs, choices and voice.
