Ao Therapy Services

How we work

Support at Ao Therapy looks different for everyone, and across our team. Depending on who you're working with and what you need, sessions might involve talking, wondering, creating, learning, practical problem-solving, nervous system support, exploring relationships and patterns, making sense of your health and wellbeing, or simply having somewhere safe enough to begin.

Our practitioners bring different professional backgrounds, lived experiences and ways of working. Across counselling, psychotherapy, arts therapy and therapeutic nursing, we share a whole-person approach that considers not only what is happening within you, but your body, relationships, family, environment, culture, community and the systems around you.

Whatever the approach, support is collaborative. We aim to work with you, not on you, with consent, curiosity and respect for your goals, needs and capacity.

We work alongside deep feelers, curious thinkers, neurodivergent people, individuals and families navigating disability, and people experiencing stress, overwhelm, grief, health concerns, relationship difficulties, life transitions, identity exploration or questions of meaning and purpose.

Ao Therapy is not a performance-based space. We value curiosity, authenticity, humour, creativity and self-compassion. There is room here to move at your own pace, ask questions, need practical help, explore what matters to you and arrive exactly as you are.

Our Commitment

We are committed to providing ethical, compassionate and professional support that honours your individuality, lived experience, capacity, strengths and goals.

We believe good support begins with listening and understanding before deciding what might be helpful. Whether you're coming for therapy, counselling, nursing support or help making sense of something that doesn't fit neatly into one box, our aim is for you to feel heard, respected and involved in the decisions that affect you.

We want our work together to build your capacity, not your dependence on us. That might mean understanding yourself more deeply, recognising your needs, trusting your experience, developing practical skills, communicating what you need, navigating services or healthcare, strengthening relationships, or finding the people and supports that are right for you.

And because everyone’s circumstances are different, where possible we offer flexible options, including payment plans and package discounts, to help make support more accessible.
